“Sustainable development is a pattern of resource use that aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present but also for future generations. Incorporating sustainability concepts involves evaluating the triple bottom line: social equity, environment quality, and economic prosperity.” Fraser Comprehensive Plan
What Is Sustainability?
Among many sustainability definitions, the simplest and most fundamental one is "the capacity to endure." For Fraser to endure, it must become sustainable.
Fraser Sustainability Initiatives
In 2015, the Town of Fraser committed to implementation of a threefold initiative aimed at increasing Fraser's overall sustainability. To that end, the Town has carried out a Technical Energy Audit of Town properties along with the development of a town-wide sustainability plan and a strategy for regional cooperation on municipal solid waste management, collectively titled the Sustainability Network Project.
Improvement
The Town would like to improve the community's economic, environmental, and social sustainability over the next few years, based on the information and efforts Grand County organizations have contributed. If you have any suggestions or questions related to our sustainability efforts, please drop by the Fraser Town Hall and communicate your questions and ideas to us.
