Water

The Utility Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for providing a safe and reliable drinking water supply. It consists of five water operators, one being the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC), the Water and Wastewater Superintendent, and four additional Town staff. All are State of Colorado Certified Operators in both the production and distribution fields.

Process

The Town drinking water supply is produced from a series of groundwater wells which pump water from the Fraser Alluvium and the Troublesome Formation more than 280 feet below the ground surface into two separate water treatment facilities where it is disinfected, conditioned and either pumped directly into the distribution system for immediate use or to several storage tanks for future use on demand. These water production facilities are capable of providing a safe and reliable drinking water supply of up to 1.8 million gallons per day (MGD).
