1. Where are the Tubing Hills?

Fraser now boasts two tubing hills. Turn off Highway 40 at the Wendy's onto CR 72. One tubing hill is up the hill on the right; for the other, from CR 72, turn right onto the Fraser Valley Parkway, just after the railroad underpass - it is on the left. 2. Where is the Cozens Ranch Museum?

It is in Fraser, just inside the city limits, near Winter Park, on Highway 40. Call 970-726-5488 for hours of operation in winter or summer, or for information.

3. Where is the Post Office?

4. Where is the High Country Stampede and Rodeo?

At the John Work Arena, just west of Fraser. To get there, turn west at the Wendy's on Highway 40 and travel on CR. 72 under the railroad underpass, turn right on the Fraser Valley Parkway, turn left on CR 73 and travel up the hill. 5. How far is the town of Winter Park from Fraser?

The Town of Winter Park is approximately two miles south on Highway 40. The Winter Park Ski Resort is another three miles south on Highway 40 (total of five miles from Fraser). For more information, contact us at 970-726-5491.

6. What is Old Town Winter Park?

It is the name of the area just north and east of the Winter Park Ski Resort. It consists of a night club, a restaurant, ski rental businesses, homes and town homes and condominiums. For more information, contact us at 970-726-5491.

7. Where is Snow Mountain Ranch / YMCA / Camp Chief Ouray?

From Fraser, travel North / Northwest on Highway 40 approximately eight miles, to the fourth left turn past the town of Tabernash. Tabernash is about four miles from Fraser. The first left turn is to Pole Creek Meadows, a housing subdivision, the second left turn is to two churches. The third left turn is to County Road 5. 8. Where is Granby Ranch?

It is 14 miles North / Northwest on Highway 40, approximately 14 miles from Fraser. It is about a mile and a half south of the town of Granby. There are various lodging properties in the Granby Ranch. For more information, contact us at 970-726-5491.

9. Where is Pole Creek Golf Course?

Travel north on Highway 40 past Tabernash. Take the third left turn off Highway 40 after the town of Tabernash on to CR. 5. Travel approximately one mile to the entrance. For more information, contact us at 970-726-5491.

10. Where is Devil's Thumb Ranch Resort?

Travel towards Tabernash, North / Northwest on Highway 40 for almost four miles. When the road begins to curve to go up and over the railroad tracks, there is a road to the right, CR 83, which you should turn right onto. This road takes you across the Fraser River to a fork; you will take the right hand fork (CR 83) to it's end (approximately four miles from the highway).

11. Where is Meadow Creek Reservoir?

Travel towards Tabernash, North / Northwest on Highway 40 for almost four miles. When the road begins to curve to go up and over the railroad tracks, there is a road to the right, CR 83, which you should turn right onto. This road takes you across the Fraser River to a fork; turn left at the fork in the road, onto CR 84 and follow this road to its end (approximately 10 miles from the highway). 12. Where is the Fraser River Trail?

There are two parts of this trail which connects Fraser and Winter Park. The paved portion parallels Highway 40 and begins at the Wendy's on Highway 40 in Fraser, and ends at Trademark condominiums in Old Town Winter Park. From there you can utilize streets to connect to the Winter Park Ski Resort. The unpaved portion of the trail begins at CR 8, at the northern end of Fraser and connects to a road which leads from Highway 40 to the Catholic Church, this road is also the entrance to Rendezvous subdivision. An easy access point for the unpaved portion of the trail is the parking lot at the Fraser Visitor Center. Interpretive signs and viewing scopes are located along the trail. 13. Where is Meadow Ridge?

It is on the ridge above the Fraser River, up the road behind Safeway. Meadow Ridge is the collective term used for the condominium community at the top of the ridge. Several nightly rentals are located there, notably, The Pines, Lookout Village, Indian Peaks, Silvercrest and Meadow Ridge itself. 14. Where is the Amtrak Station?

he Fraser-Winter Park Amtrak station is located in Fraser at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Fraser Avenue. The station is not manned. There is an open platform. It is one block west of Highway 40. Turn (left if traveling North on Highway 40, right if traveling South on Highway 40) at the Crooked Creek Saloon onto Fraser Avenue and go one block. The street intersects Railroad Avenue and the train platform is dead ahead. For arrival and departure times and to make reservations, call the toll free number 800-USA-RAIL (872-7245).

15. Where is Rocky Mountain National Park?

It is approximately 33 miles north of Fraser. Travel on Highway 40 to Granby (15 miles) turn north on Highway 34 to Grand Lake (16 miles) The park entrance is on Highway 34 a few miles above the Village of Grand Lake. 16. Where is Trail Ridge Road?

It is the name given Highway 34 as it passes through Rocky Mountain National Park. Quite scenic and at high altitude, the road is closed during winter. Call 970-627-3471 to ask if the road is open during spring and fall months. Typically, it opens Memorial Day and closes Labor Day, but weather conditions determine the exact dates of open and closed status.

17. Where is Estes Park?

Not to be mistaken for the national park itself, Estes Park is the town at the northeastern entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. In summer months, Highway 34 is open and takes you directly into Estes Park, travelling through Rocky Mountain National Park. Depending on traffic, the trip to Estes Park can take from two to three hours, especially if you stop at any of the lookout points in the national park along the way. In the winter, Highway 34, also known as Trail Ridge Road, is closed.

Yes, if you are doing business in Fraser in any capacity, you are required to have a Town of Fraser business license.

1. Where is the ranger station / forest service office?

Sulphur Ranger District offices are on the west side of Highway 40 just south of Granby (approximately 14 1/2 miles from Fraser). The telephone number is 970-887-4100. Topographical maps may be purchased at the ranger office which is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call for weekend hours in the summer.

2. Where can we take our children fishing?

Fishing ponds stocked and maintained by the Lions Club are located directly south of the Safeway grocery store in Fraser. There is no fee; children under 16 years can fish without a license, but those older must purchase a license. They are sold at Safeway and at Winter Park Fly Fisher, both on Highway 40 in Fraser. 3. How many trains pass through Fraser daily?

It varies, however, a recent report from Union Pacific, which owns this portion of the railroad, shows there are approximately six freight trains at night, five freight trains in the day and two Amtrak passenger trains daily, for an approximate total of 13 trains per day. Trains are required by law to sound their horn at grade crossings. The two Amtrak trains constitute the California Zephyr route. Train #5 is westbound from Chicago to Emeryville (San Francisco) and train #6 is eastbound from Emeryville (San Francisco) to Chicago. The remainder or the trains are mixed merchandise trains, some coal trains and the occasional track repair train. Often, in summer months, you may see a privately owned car attached to the end of one of the Amtrak trains - some are quite elaborate and remind us of the glory days of travel by train. 

4. What was the Ski Train?

A Denver tradition for generations, the Ski Train was America's largest, scheduled passenger train. It carried passengers from Denver through the peaks of the Rockies for day trips to Winter Park - in summer for mountain biking, hiking and sightseeing; in winter for skiing and sightseeing. However, the Ski Train was sold to a Canadian concern. Its last run to the Winter Park Ski Resort was in 2009. Since 2016, Amtrak has partnered with Winter Park Ski Resort to run a ski train on select weekends during the months with the best snow. The ski train originates at Denver's Union Station, takes passengers directly to the siding at the Winter Park Ski Resort, turns around in Tabernash (just four miles north of Fraser) and waits at the siding in Fraser until the end of the day when it returns to the ski resort to pick up its passengers for the return trip to Denver. Currently, utility bills are the only bills that can be paid online. However, you can pay any other items (ie, licences, registrations, rentals, etc) you may have with the Town with a credit / debit card by either calling the Finance Department or stopping by Town Hall.

3. What is Xpress Bill Pay?

Xpress Bill Pay is the company we have partnered with to handle our online payments. You access your account from their website, xpressbillpay.com.

4. What payment choices do I have?

You can pay with a credit or debit card, or you can transfer funds directly from your checking account (aka: eCheck).

5. What will my bill look like online?

We try to make the online bill display similar to your paper statement so you’ll find it easy to read your bill on a screen.

6. What other information is available?

You can view up to two years' history of your account online, so you can compare your current bill to a previous bill.

7. Do I need to pay my bills from my computer?

Not at all. You can pay your bill from just about anywhere via computer or mobile device. All you need is access to the internet through a web browser. You then log in to your account using your email address and password, or you can sign in using our app. No need to worry about late payments if you’re out of town when your bill is due.

8. How do I know the payment went through?

After you complete the transaction, you can receive an email receipt to confirm that your payment went through.

9. Is my information safe?

Absolutely. All the transactions are handled on secure servers. As long as you don’t give out your password, only you will be able to access your account. Plus, your personal information or email address will not be sold or rented to third parties for marketing purposes without your permission.

Snow Management Operations Plan

1. Can I park on town streets in front of my house or while visiting?

Parking on town streets during the winter months is prohibited and vehicles may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense. Parking restrictions are specific to each street as posted on signs along the street. For more information, contact us at 970-726-5491, ext. 203.

2. Why isn't my street plowed first thing in the morning?

With over 38 lane-miles of roadway it is not practical from a resource standpoint to plow every street first thing. When determining route priorities, streets are rated based on a number of factors such as volume of traffic, roadway designation and steepness. 3. I live on Grand County Road Number ___, and I have concerns about snow maintenance!

In some cases the Town maintains portions of a county road that runs through town limits; however, most numbered county roads are the responsibility of the Grand County Road and Bridge Department at 970-726-5345 or Grand County Sheriff Dispatch at 970-725-3311.

4. Does the Town use liquid de-icer?

5. Can I pass a snow plow?

By law, snow removal vehicles are considered emergency vehicles when performing their duties; it is against the law to pass a snow plow. For more information, contact us at 970-726-5491, ext. 203.

6. What is a "Public Right of Way"?

The public right-of-way (ROW) is owned by the Town of Fraser, includes the paved portion of roadway and the dirt shoulders on both sides and abuts the property lines of adjacent properties. ROW widths vary throughout town and can range from 20 feet for a public alley to as much as 80 feet for a main road. 

In addition to the ROW width, in some cases there may be an additional snow storage easement overlaying the adjoining property which is typically 10 feet in width on one or both sides of the street.This easement allows the Town to utilize a portion of private property for snow storage. 1. Can I park my car and leave it at the Amtrak station?

Yes you may, but it is best to notify our Street Supervisor or Town Hall personnel that you are going to do this and for how long; a description of your car and your license plate number will be sent to the local police department so they be aware you have obtained permission to park during the time period you need.  For more information, view the Streets page on our website.
