Where is the Tubing Hill?
Fraser now boasts two tubing hills. Turn off Hwy. 40 at the Wendy's onto CR 72. One tubing hill is up the hill on the right; for the other, from CR 72, turn right onto the Fraser Valley Parkway, just after the railroad underpass -  it is on the left.. Back to top

Where is the Cozens Ranch Museum?
It is in Fraser, just inside the city limits, near Winter Park, on Hwy. 40. Call 970-726-5488 for hours of operation in winter or summer, or for information. Back to top

Where is the Post Office?
The nearest Post Office is in Fraser, on Hwy. 40, and is the last building on the right hand side as you leave town traveling N/NW. Back to top

Where is the High Country Stampede and Rodeo?
At the John Work Arena, just west of Fraser. To get there, turn west at the Wendy's on Hwy. 40 and travel on CR. 72 under the railroad underpass, turn right on the Fraser Valley Parkway, turn left on CR 73 and travel up the hill. The arena is to your right at the top of the hill (less than a mile from the turn onto CR 73). Back to top

How far is Winter Park?
The Town of Winter Park is approximately 2 miles south on Hwy. 40. The Winter Park Ski Resort is another 3 miles south on Hwy. 40 (total of 5 miles from Fraser). Back to top

What is Old Town Winter Park?
It is the name of the area just north and east of the Winter Park Ski Resort. It consists of a night club, a restaurant, ski rental businesses, homes and townhomes and condominiums. Back to top

Where is Snow Mountain Ranch/YMCA/Camp Chief Ouray?
From Fraser, travel N/NW on Hwy. 40 approximately 8 miles, to the 4th left turn past the town of Tabernash. Tabernash is about 4 miles from Fraser. The 1st left turn is to Pole Creek Meadows, a housing subdivision, the 2nd left turn is to two churches. The 3rd left turn is to County Rd. 5. The fourth left turn takes you to the YMCA entry; buildings are located about one mile off the highway. Back to top

Where is Granby Ranch?
It is 14 miles N/NW on Hwy. 40, approximately 14 miles from Fraser. It is about a mile and a half south of the town of Granby. There are various lodging properties in the Granby Ranch. Back to top

Where is Pole Creek Golf Course?
Travel north on Hwy. 40 past Tabernash. Take the 3rd left turn off Hwy. 40 after the town of Tabernash on to CR. 5. Travel approximately one mile to the entrance. Back to top

Where is Devil's Thumb Ranch Resort?
Travel towards Tabernash, N/NW on Hwy. 40 for almost 4 miles. When the road begins to curve to go up and over the railroad tracks, there is a road to the right, CR 83, which you should turn right onto. This road takes you across the Fraser River to a fork; you will take the right hand fork (CR 83) to it's end (approximately 4 miles from the highway). Back to top

Where is Meadow Creek Reservoir? 
Travel towards Tabernash, N/NW on Hwy. 40 for almost 4 miles. When the road begins to curve to go up and over the railroad tracks, there is a road to the right, CR 83, which you should turn right onto. This road takes you across the Fraser River to a fork; turn left at the fork in the road, onto CR 84 and follow this road to its end (approximately 10 miles from the highway). Back to top

Where is the Fraser River Trail?
There are two parts of this trail which connects Fraser and Winter Park. The paved portion parallels Hwy. 40 and begins at the Wendy's on Hwy. 40 in Fraser, and ends at Trademark condominiums in Old Town Winter Park. From there you can utilize streets to connect to the Winter Park Ski Resort. The unpaved portion of the trail begins at CR 8, at the northern end of Fraser and connects to a road which leads from Hwy. 40 to the Catholic Church, this road is also the entrance to Rendezvous subdivision. An easy access point for the unpaved portion of the trail is the parking lot at the Fraser Visitor Center. Interpretive signs and viewing scopes are located along the trail. Back to top

Where can we take our children fishing?
Fishing ponds stocked and maintained by the Lions Club are located directly south of the Safeway grocery store in Fraser. There is no fee; children under 16 yrs. can fish without a license, but those older must purchase a license. They are sold at Safeway and at Winter Park Fly Fisher, both on Hwy. 40  in Fraser. Where are the campgrounds?
There are 3 nearby campgrounds; Idelwild, St. Louis Creek and Byers Creek Campgrounds. All are operated by the local Lions Club, and all are open from approximately Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is a fee to camp and an additional fee to park extra vehicles, if there is room. There is no telephone. Reservations are on a first-come first-served basis. None of the campgrounds offer electrical or sewer hookups. St. Louis Creek Campground is 4 miles west of Fraser on CR 73. It has 16 campsites, a hand water pump, two toilets and trash dumpsters. Byers Creek Campground is 3 miles beyond St. Louis Creek Campground on CR 73. It has 6 campsites, a hand water pump, one toilet and a trash dumpster. It is within 200 yards of the St. Louis Creek. Access to both St. Louis Creek and Byers Creek Campgrounds is via CR 72, the Fraser Valley Parkway and CR 73. Turn west off Hwy. 40 at the Wendy's to CR 72; turn right on the Fraser Valley Parkway just as you pass the railroad underpass; turn left on CR 73 and follow it to the campgrounds. The mileage given is from the highway. Idelwild Campground is just south of the Town of Winter Park on the east side of Hwy. 40. It has 24 campsites with water, three toilets, and trash dumpsters.

Where is the ranger station/forest service office?
Sulphur Ranger District offices are on the west side of Hwy. 40 just south of Granby (approximately 14 1/2 miles from Fraser). The telephone number is 970-887-4100. Topographical maps may be purchased at the ranger office which is open from 8a - 5p Monday through Friday. Call for weekend hours in the summer. Back to top

Where is Meadow Ridge?
It is on the ridge above the Fraser River, up the road behind Safeway. Meadow Ridge is the collective term used for the condominium community at the top of the ridge. Several nightly rentals are located there, notably, The Pines, Lookout Village, Indian Peaks, Silvercrest and Meadow Ridge itself. The area called Winter Park Ranch, to the left of the Meadow Ridge area, has private residences. Back to top

Where is the Amtrak Station?
The Fraser-Winter Park Amtrak station is located in Fraser at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Fraser Avenue. The station is not manned. There is an open platform. It is one block west of Hwy. 40. Turn (left if traveling N. on Hwy. 40, right if traveling S. on Hwy. 40) at the Crooked Creek Saloon onto Fraser Avenue and go one block. How many trains pass through Fraser daily?
It varies from between 15 to 30 trains per day and they do run 24 hours a day! They are required by law to sound their horn at grade crossings. The majority are coal trains from the Energy and Apex mines near Steamboat Springs, CO. Two are Amtrak's east and westbound California Zephyr, which has its termini in Chicago and San Francisco. (See the above information on Amtrak.) The remainder are mixed merchandise trains and the occasional track repair train. Back to top

Where is Rocky Mountain National Park?
It is approximately 33 miles north of Fraser. Travel on Hwy. 40 to Granby (15 miles) turn north on Hwy. 34 to Grand Lake (16 miles) The park entrance is on Hwy. 34 a few miles above the Village of Grand Lake. It is an especially nice place to visit during the Elk rutting (mating) season in the fall. Back to top

Where is Trail Ridge Road?
It is the name given Hwy. 34 as it passes through Rocky Mountain National Park. Quite scenic and at high altitude, the road is closed during winter. Call 970-627-3471 to ask if the road is open during spring and fall months. Typically, it opens Memorial Day and closes Labor Day, but weather conditions determine the exact dates of open and closed status. Back to top

Where is Estes Park?
Not to be mistaken for the national park itself, Estes Park is the town at the northeastern entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. In summer months, Hwy. 34 is open and takes you directly into Estes Park, travelling through Rocky Mountain National Park. Depending on traffic, the trip to Estes Park can take from 2 to 3 hours, especially if you stop at any of the lookout points in the national park along the way. In the winter, Hwy. 34, also known as Trail Ridge Road, is closed. Back to top

What was the Ski Train?
A Denver tradition for generations, the Ski Train was America's largest, scheduled passenger train. It carried passengers from Denver through the peaks of the Rockies for day trips to Winter Park - in summer for mountain biking, hiking and sightseeing; in winter for skiing and sightseeing. However, the Ski Train was sold to a Canadian concern. Its last to the Winter Park Ski Resort was in 2009.  Back to top
