Fraser Sustainability Strategy

Decreasing Fraser's carbon footprint


On February 4, 2016, the Fraser Board of Trustees adopted a resolution approving the community-wide sustainability plan on reducing our community's greenhouse gas emissions to 20% below 2014 levels by 2025. The plan consists of actions in following areas


Residential weatherization
Encourage Fraser residents to weatherproof their homes. Inform them about programs and rebate opportunities available from local utility providers and other sources.

 Residential energy awareness and education
Rising awareness among Fraser residents and educating them on efficient energy consumption.

 Expand participation in residential and commercial rebates 
Encourage Fraser residents and business district to take advantage of energy rebate programs that exist for the local community. 

Commercial retro-commissioning
Encourage local entrepreneurs to practice in a systematic process of identifying the performance issues of their buildings’ equipment (e.g. heating, air conditioning, lighting, etc.) and create a plan or process to rectify these issues.

Improve public transit
Increase the role of public transportation in the community through establishing an adequate system.

Community solar
Invest in a community solar system that is owned and benefited by our community members.
