Artist/Historian Jim Hoy envisioned the Walk Through History Park, Western Heritage Exhibit and worked with the Town of Fraser to create it. This effort began in 1989 and should be completed before 2010. The Walk Through History Park's mission is to present an exhibit which focuses on the power of attitude and the value of struggle in the development of America and its ultimate westward expansion. It's an examination of what made American culture, law and behavior unique in world history. This story is told utilizing both sculpture and word. Twenty sculptures will epitomize the American experience, each serving as a part of the storybook. As of winter 2001, the first ten sculptures were completed with their outdoor plaques. The story will ultimately be published in book form. The first ten life-size sculptures were hand carved by Hoy from trees, but because of deterioration from outdoor elements, these are being converted to bronze. The last ten sculptures will be cast directly in bronze so the complete exhibit will last, virtually maintenance free, for many years. Recognizing the public success of the park/exhibit to date and the enthusiasm generated by American and foreign visitors, an educational, non-profit 501(c)(3) board was formed in 1977 to support the project. They began investigating ways to preserve the educational exhibit's original wood sculptures and to expand the services available at the History Park, where visitation is free of charge. The Fraser Walk Through History Park Foundation is seeking tax deductible donations to permanently preserve, create and reach the above goals. Individual, family, corporate and foundation donations will be appropriately recognized in the Park. Donations can be made to: Fraser Walk Through History Park Foundation
